Non-specific low back pain:
Advice:
In the back there are many muscles, joints, ligaments and nerves. Both small and big movements using little or great force are all regulated by them.
The backtest first looks for serious problems. After that it looks for less serious problems, but with a well known anatomical background. If it is not exactly clear what causes the backpain we call it non-specific low backpain. This is not life threatening, but the pain can cause serious complaints, complaints that often slowly get worse.
For instance: as a result of a too forceful movement you get pain in one of your back muscles. You have rested a few days and have avoided painful movements.
The painful muscle has recovered, but because of the rest it is now weakened. You have started to make the same movements and after a short time the pain has come back. If this happens a few times that particular muscle can be weakened seriously. In that way a chronic back problem can be formed.
How can you get this under control?
You should build up the load on the muscle slowly by walking or bicycling. If you can not continue for more then 5 minutes, start by doing exercise 3 times a day for 3 minutes. Build up the exercise each week by 25% to 30%.
So the first week 3 minutes, the second week 4 minutes, than 5 6 8 10 13 16 20 25 etc minutes.
You might contact your doctor, physiotherapist or trainer.
